What is duyan?

Duyan is derived from the Tagalog (Filipino) term cradle. Traditional duyan are made of rattan and are strung onto walls, acting as a hammock in which mothers rest their infants. When used as a verb, duyan also means to swing back and forth.

Studio Duyan was created with the evolving individual in mind. With life’s ebbs and flows, we acknowledge that healing and growth are not always linear. As you journey through different phases of life, Duyan is here to illuminate your path through movement, mindfulness, & embodiment.

Meet Caitlin

Caitlin Oliveros is the founder of Duyan Physical Therapy + Wellness. She is a licensed physical therapist in NY, CT, CA, as well as in the Philippines. She currently resides in Westchester County, New York, but will be making the move to California soon!

She began her career at PEAK Physical Therapy and Scoliosis Center, which is the first scoliosis center of the Philippines. There, she became one of the first and few scoliosis treatment providers in the country and eventually launched the clinic’s complimentary online mentorship group that provided communal support for adolescent patients. It was at PEAK where she was introduced to the world of Schroth (scoliosis treatment method), fascial manipulation, and functional movement — thus, paving her path towards holisticism.

Having grown up in White Plains, NY, she returned to the United States following the height of the pandemic. After working in traditional outpatient clinics, Caitlin found that conventional models of physical rehabilitation were overall limited and impersonal. Feeling the need to provide more elevated patient care, she challenged these traditional practices and, along the way, added pelvic floor and hypermobility to her specializations. Caitlin’s ability to integrate multiple perspectives into a concise treatment plan has become her unique trademark. She has since been working with patients in Greenwich, CT and around Westchester and Manhasset, NY to provide 1:1 personalized and evolving care.

Caitlin is passionate about empowering individuals in unlocking their mind-body connection and innate skills. She is also a pilates instructor, health coach, and reiki practitioner. Outside of wellness, Caitlin enjoys traveling, dancing, vlogging, and is a huge fan of Seventeen! horanghae~

What people have to say

  • She treated me like an individual and treated each session individually which really helped me prepare for birth.

Caitlin was an absolute DREAM to work with. I started going to her from when I was 10 weeks pregnant and continued until I gave birth and she knew how to help me in each specific stage of my pregnancy. She was always so thorough, patient, kind, understanding, and so knowledgable beyond the physical therapy aspect of pregnancy. I always looked forward to my sessions with her- she has the best bedside manner and I could tell she really cared about me, my pregnancy journey, and making sure I was preparing myself the best I could. She treated me like an individual and treated each session individually which really helped me prepare for birth. I only pushed twice, only had a 1st degree tear, and gave birth in 15 minutes- which I attribute all to Caitlins help. Taking the necessary steps to prepare your body for birth is the most important thing we can do and Caitlin was the integral piece for me to feel 100% prepared. In feeling prepared, I was able to enjoy the experience of birth and spend more time with my daughter post birth because my recovery wasn't as bad. I could go on and on about Caitlin but I couldn't recommend working with her more!

  • Caitlin is a wealth of knowledge and really cares about her patient’s wellbeing, well beyond physical therapy.

I can 10000% recommend working with Caitlin and encourage all my pregnant and postpartum friends to seek her out for physical therapy! I began working with Caitlin when I was in my third trimester of pregnancy and continued working with her postpartum. During pregnancy, Caitlin helped me work on alignment, resolve tightness in the body and supporting my core in a pregnancy-safe way. Postpartum, Caitlin really helped me repair my core and pelvic floor, and then we moved on to work on helping me get stronger overall. It was incredible having such a knowledgeable person guide me through the postpartum recovery process, especially helping me determine what exercises are safe for me at any given stage. I loved gaining new confidence in my strength and seeing how I progressed from one exercise to the next level of that exercise. Caitlin also helped me resolve any issues with alignment and tensions in the body as a new mom. I feel like I learned so much from Caitlin about my body, proper posture, alignment and how to be the best version of myself. Caitlin is a wealth of knowledge and really cares about her patient’s wellbeing, well beyond physical therapy.

  • Despite being told by countless doctors that “there is no way to improve scoliosis, including physical therapy,” I finally found Caitlin.

As an active, perimenopausal woman, I am determined to gain muscle and build strength in order to stay healthy well into my senior years. But I was determined to do so in a way that would not exacerbate my scoliosis. Despite being told by countless doctors that “there is no way to improve scoliosis, including physical therapy,” I finally found Caitlin. She has worked diligently to understand my specific curvature and teach me proper mechanics, form, and postural corrections. She understands my body and has taught me so much. I feel stronger and SAFER when lifting heavy weights with the knowledge that she has imparted in me. I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone with scoliosis, or anyone interested in learning proper form and mechanics, regardless of their unique physiology.
